Hello everyone, I hope you all are doing well. This is the second post of our ” Learn Hindi with Dhiyara” series where I’ve shared Hindi vowels (svar) tracing flashcards. This is the first step to teach you child to write Hindi letters easily. You can either keep these sheets in page protectors or preferably laminate them so that you can use these flashcards multiple times. Kids can easily trace letters using dry erase markers and practice the formation of letters.
I hope our resources will help parents, specially who are living outside India and want to teach Hindi to their kids.

These Hindi vowel tracing cards are for children beginning to recognise and write स्वर. I use speaking, visual recognition and finger tracing before pencil work so the letter shape is connected to its sound.
A simple Hindi tracing routine
- Say the vowel clearly and let your child repeat it while looking at the card.
- Trace the large shape with a finger, following the same direction each time.
- Name a familiar Hindi word that begins with or strongly uses the sound.
- Trace with a pencil, then try one independent letter without the dotted guide.
Supporting children learning Hindi outside India
Short, regular practice is more effective than an occasional long session. Display two or three current cards where your child can see them and revisit the sounds during everyday conversation.
If your child also writes in English, explain that Hindi letters follow their own shapes and stroke patterns. Give enough space and avoid comparing the writing speed in the two languages.
Parent tip: Say the sound naturally rather than asking your child to memorise only the letter name. Sound, shape and a familiar word together make the card easier to remember.
