September always feels like a fresh beginning.
Children return to school, families settle into new routines and suddenly our afternoons become busy again. Between school, homework, activities and everyday family life, it can be difficult to find learning activities that are meaningful without making children feel as though they are doing another full day of school.
As a parent, I wanted something simple that we could use at home—one page at a time, whenever it worked for us.
That is why I created the World of Dhiyara September Learning Bundle for children ages 10–12.
This printable bundle brings together reading, writing, mathematics, vocabulary, puzzles and creative thinking. September’s themes are Ganesha and Back to School, making the activities especially meaningful for families who want to combine academic practice with stories, values and cultural learning.

Learning at Home Should Feel Manageable
At World of Dhiyara, I believe learning does not always need to be complicated, highly structured or overwhelming.
A child does not have to complete several worksheets in one sitting. Even 15–30 minutes of focused practice can be valuable when it happens consistently.
Some days, your child may complete a mathematics page. On another day, they may enjoy reading a Ganesha story, solving a crossword or spending extra time developing a creative writing idea.
There is no fixed order and no pressure to finish the entire bundle quickly.
You can use these pages for:
- After-school practice
- Homeschool learning
- Weekend activities
- Screen-free quiet time
- Holiday learning
- Additional support in a particular subject
- Parent-and-child learning time
The goal is not to fill every free moment with worksheets. The goal is to provide parents with thoughtful resources they can use when their child is ready to learn.
Created with the NRI Parent Experience in Mind
As an NRI parent, I often think about how to help my child succeed in the learning environment around her while also helping her remain connected to Indian culture.
Our children may learn mathematics, reading and writing at school, but cultural stories and traditions often need to be introduced at home. Finding the time—and the right way—to do that is not always easy.
Sometimes cultural resources are written for very young children. Sometimes the language is too difficult, or the activity does not connect naturally with what children are currently learning.
I wanted this bundle to create a gentle bridge between those two parts of our children’s lives.
The Ganesha-themed activities are not included only as a festival decoration. Children read stories, think about the choices made by the characters and explore ideas such as wisdom, patience, responsibility, perseverance and thoughtful problem-solving.
These are cultural stories, but they also carry values children can apply in school and in everyday life.
For NRI families, a worksheet cannot replace conversations, celebrations or stories shared by grandparents and family members. However, it can become a starting point.
A reading passage may lead to a discussion about why we celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi. A writing prompt may encourage a child to imagine how Ganesha would help a classroom solve a problem. A fact page may inspire them to ask questions about traditions followed in different families.
That connection is what makes learning meaningful.

What Is Included in the September Learning Bundle?
Reading Comprehension
The reading section includes five passages with questions that encourage children to understand the story, identify important details, make connections and explain ideas in their own words.
Some passages introduce child-friendly Ganesha stories, while others explore school experiences, classmates, teamwork and personal growth.
The comprehension questions are intentionally open enough for children to form their own responses. Parents can focus on whether the child understood the passage and supported the answer with suitable details rather than expecting every response to use exactly the same words.
Creative Writing
The four writing activities encourage children to develop imagination, organise their ideas and write with greater confidence.
The prompts include Ganesha-inspired writing as well as familiar experiences involving school and friendship. Each page offers planning questions, helpful vocabulary, a story or opinion starter and a quick writing check.
Children are guided through the process, but they still have the freedom to make the writing their own.
Mathematics Practice
The mathematics section provides practice with skills appropriate for this age group, including:
- Addition and subtraction
- Multi-digit multiplication
- Division, including remainders
- Fractions and decimals
- Mixed-operation word problems
The pages can be used for revision, additional practice or as a simple way to observe which concepts your child understands and which ones may need more attention.
The purpose is not speed. Encourage your child to show their steps, check their work and explain how they reached an answer.
Vocabulary and Word Activities
The bundle also includes vocabulary practice, word searches and crosswords based on the Ganesha and Back-to-School themes.
These activities allow children to strengthen spelling and word recognition while enjoying a change from traditional written exercises.
Brain Teasers
The brain-teaser page gives children an opportunity to practise logic, patterns, word skills and creative thinking.
These questions are also wonderful for solving together. Ask your child to explain their reasoning—even when the first answer is incorrect. Learning how to rethink an idea is an important part of becoming a confident learner.

More Than Completing Worksheets
World of Dhiyara is built around a simple belief: children learn best when they feel curious, supported and confident enough to try.
Not every answer will be correct the first time. Not every writing page will be completed without help. Some concepts will take longer than others—and that is perfectly normal.
Instead of focusing only on finished pages, we can also notice the smaller signs of growth:
- A child explaining an answer more clearly
- Trying a difficult problem again
- Using a new word in a sentence
- Making a connection between a story and real life
- Asking a thoughtful question about culture
- Becoming more independent with their work
These moments matter.
A Simple Way to Use the Bundle
You do not need to create a complicated schedule.
Choose two or three learning days each week and let your child complete one activity at a time. You might alternate between subjects to keep the routine varied.
For example:
- One reading comprehension activity
- One mathematics practice page
- One writing, vocabulary or puzzle activity
You can place the printed pages in a binder, use sheet protectors for activities you would like to repeat or print only the pages your child currently needs.
Read together when possible. Discuss the stories. Ask open-ended questions. Let your child explain their mathematical thinking. Most importantly, keep mistakes normal and praise genuine effort.

Learning That Reflects Our Children’s Whole World
Our children are growing up with many influences, identities and opportunities. They should not have to choose between academic learning and cultural connection.
They can practise division while learning about responsibility. They can strengthen reading comprehension through a traditional story. They can develop writing skills while imagining Ganesha visiting their classroom.
This is the kind of learning I hope to create through World of Dhiyara—learning that is practical for parents, engaging for children and connected to the values we want to carry forward.
The September Learning Bundle is designed to support your family one page, one conversation and one small learning moment at a time.
Because learning at home does not have to be perfect or complicated.
It simply needs to be consistent, encouraging and meaningful.
Happy learning!
With warmth,
Rakhi
